For ponies, mares or geldings, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 123cms, suitable for and to be ridden by riders who have not attained their 9th birthday on 1st January of current year. This class is a qualifier for IPS Jim Lilley Working Hunter Final. Fences in this class not to exceed 45cms. NOTE; The rider may not compete in any other class at all IPS Area Shows (Spring, Summer and Championship Shows) with the exception of any other Lead Rein or Beginner First Ridden Class. There are no restrictions to how many years a rider can compete in Beginner classes but must adhere to age restrictions. However, the ability of the rider should be taken into account when judging this class. If there is no Beginner Cradle Stakes on the schedule of all other Affiliated Shows Riders may compete in an Open Cradle Stakes and points will be awarded. However, for National Awards the rider must declare for either Beginner Cradle Stakes or Open Cradle Stakes. Riders in Beginners Classes may only compete in 50cms and 60cms Performance Jumping Classes. First & second are qualified for The Mini Working Hunter Championship & The Purcell Cup.
No entries permitted on day of event.
Rosettes 1st to 6th place and thereafter, special rosettes will be awarded. In addition a Best-Turned-Out rosette will be awarded.
